Last Thursday I just finished Martin’s pants and under doublet. The doublet is made from a pin tucked cream cotton with black trimmings and the pants from gray wool with embroidered leather striping and finished with black trimming that matches the under doublet. He looks absolutely amazing in it. It makes for a great addition to the blackworked shirt I made for him last year. He has debuted the shirt last year at Visalia. It was only proper that that’s where he’d debut his new garb. I wish I had the chance to finish the over doublet, however, I my old Phaff gave out its ghost last week. The over doublet is of leather that matches the striping on the pants. The whole thing is embroidered. He will look stunning. Well, he already does. But here will look just that much better.

It is a pleasure to work with Martin. He puts his total trust in his tailor. I am very glad to have him as a client and proud to dress him. I’ll post pictures of garb once I have them.

I’ve spent the weekend working on a series of new embroidery designs that I will be showcasing at the upcoming Renaissance Symposium later this month in Modesto. I love how fast I can turn a simple picture into an intricate embroidered work of art. I did forget how to turn certain projects into blackwork; the computer crash, then conflicts between Vista and Innovis, it has been a while since I had a chance to play with the program. Also v.6.0 and 7.0 of the program are a little different, so there is a bit of a learning curve. Dave called last Saturday and looks like the latest sewing machine upgrade is available. The upgrade will enable me to make quick changes to designs on the screen and speed up the production process.

Martin showed up last weekend with his girlfriend. They really make a cute couple. Looks like we’re off to LA this upcoming Sunday to pick up a few fabrics for his new Italian garb. I’m planning a few interesting touches on the finished piece… something in the line of this piece.
